Rep. Joe Walsh: There's No Such Thing as a Life-Saving Abortion
After a recent debate with pro-choice candidate, Tammy Duckworth, extreme anti-choice Rep. Joe Walsh (R- Ill.) showed how little he knows about women's health and pregnancy.
When asked whether it's ever medically necessary for a woman to receive abortion care in order to save her life, Politico reports that Rep. Joe Walsh said:
"'With modern technology and science, you can't find one instance' of an abortion necessary to save the life of the mother."
Are you kidding me? He believes that advances in science and technology make pregnancy risk-free?
Apparently Rep. Walsh doesn't know many women, because we've heard from many women who seek abortion services because their lives depend on it.
We heard from Jamie who faced a tragedy during a wanted pregnancy. Without the help of medical professionals and emergency abortion care, she would have died.
Or Andrea, who told us that she was dying due to an ectopic pregnancy. An emergency abortion saved her life.
Rep. Walsh would deny women like Jamie and Andrea life-saving care. Doesn't he realize that it is because of science and technology that these women survived?
Voters need to know that this is not some hollow threat. Walsh has already voted to allow hospitals to refuse to provide emergency abortion care to women who could die without it!
If you have friends in the 8th Congressional District of Illinois, tell them to vote for NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC-endorsed Tammy Duckworth. Tammy recognizes that women have different and personal reasons for seeking abortion services. We know we can count on Tammy to protect a woman's right to choose.

Be careful about your facts as well. Women generally have laparotomies with eptopic pregnancies, not elective ABs. The pregnancy is in the Fallopian tube not the uterus. I'm on your side, but your facts should be clear!
This guy has a mansion, and he can't even remember the price. He hasn't even been there. When he lost his license, he simply took to riding in limos. He has accountants pay for it all. Joe Walsh claims to be an ordinary, average guy, but he is clearly out of touch with the American public.
MEN,WHAT DO THEY KNOW ABOUT BEING PREGNANT AND I AM SICK TO DEATH OF MEN WHO DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT REPRODUCTION INCLUDING THEIR OWN. HE NEEDS TO SHUT HIS BIG FAT MOUTH AND STOP TALKING AND SHOWING US HOW STUPID HE REALLY IS. THIS IS NOT A MAN'S PROBLEM IT BELONGS TO WOMEN.
THIS JOE WALSH IS NOT AN ORDINARY AVERAGE GUY. HE IS CLEARLY OUT OF TOUCH WITH THE AMERICAN PUBLIC AND HIMSELF.
Louise, I can't agree more. He's presuming he has anything to say about another persons' body. Male chauvinist pigs are still alive and well in America. What do women have to do to once and for all get men out of our healthcare? When men can have babies they can do what they choose with them. I'll defend their rights just as I expect them to respect mine.
