Rep. Ryan: Rape is a "Method of Conception"
Last week, voters found out just how extreme anti-choice politicians really are.
Rep. Todd Akin justified banning abortion even for rape survivors because of his personal theory that not all rape is "legitimate." And then, the Republican Party released its platform calling for abortion to be banned even in cases of rape or incest.
When Rep. Ryan got the chance to comment, he exposed his blatant lack of compassion for rape survivors when he stated:
"I'm very proud of my pro-life record, and I've always adopted the idea that, the position that the method of conception doesn't change the definition of life."
To Rep. Paul Ryan, rape is just another "method of conception."
Are you kidding me?
This isn't the first time the Romney-Ryan ticket has taken a hard line on exceptions to abortion bans.
When asked "Would you have supported a constitutional amendment that would have established the definition of life at conception?" Mitt Romney answered, "Absolutely."
And just last year, Rep. Paul Ryan teamed with Rep. Todd Akin to cosponsor a "personhood" measure which, if passed and enacted into law, could outlaw abortion in almost all cases with no exceptions for rape or incest survivors.
What's more, Rep. Paul Ryan again joined Rep. Todd Akin to cosponsor a bill that would have redefined rape, allowing only survivors of "forcible" rape to access abortion services.
Tell the Romney-Ryan ticket that you do not stand for these extreme-anti-choice measures.
We will continue to spread the word about these anti-choice politicians, and hold them accountable for their voting history. On November 6, they'll answer for their actions.

So, if his wife or daughter were violently and repeatedly raped and threatened with their lives by some pervert and ended up pregnant, Ryan thinks that they should then have to carry the child of that rapist for 9 months, then raise it for 18 years, all the time having to remember that rapist every time they look at the child, who could turn out to look and act just like the pervert? I wonder how he feels if the fetus is found to not have a brain - would the mother then have to carry it to term? Oh, that would be his child! No brain!
I feel the need to preface this comment by saying that I am very much so pro-choice and do not in any way agree with the GOP's stance on abortion.
That said, Paul Ryan is correct. Scientifically speaking, conception has nothing to do with whether the sexual act preceding conception was consensual or not. As much as I find it deplorable, if one's anti-choice position revolves around the premise that life begins at conception, then that very same person has no logical option but to support a ban against abortion in all cases. In fact, the only logically acceptable exception would be in cases where the mother's life is in jeopardy because then it can be rationalized that one of the "lives" in play needs to end and society is more willing to accept that the living, breathing human life be protected versus the "life" of the almost human.
So, while it may emotionally follow that an exception should be allowed for victims of rape and incest, it does not logically follow that the "life" created in these heinous cases does not deserved to be spared.
The beauty of this Akin fiasco is that it finally is bringing to light the true stance of the GOP with respect to abortion and requiring anti-choice proponents to clarify and defend their illogical positions.
Has Ryan opened his doors to any of the hundreds of thousands of foster children out there? Nope. He only cares if they are born, nevermind what will happen to the hundreds of thousands more neglected and abused children we would see if women are not allowed birth control options including abortion. It's the children who suffer. Wait...Ryan would pull the plug on foster-care, too. Good luck making it on your own or with abusive parents kids.
I am absolutely appalled by this politician! They want to enslave women and I will fight them every step of the way! My daughter is not a piece of property!
I am disgusted with these politicians/ Romney/Ryan fools about abortion.
First they are men. I detest men who are against abortion rights for women because they know nothing about bearing children.
It is a fundamental right of women to do control their bodies. It is not a right a man to dictate what women should do with their bodies.
Mind their own body. Men who get women pregnant by rape or incest are responsible for the pregnancy not women. Women have a right not to have this child. End of story. Men stay out of this. You will never win the fight.
I say, if any of these fools haven't survived rape, they have No business in the discussion. Unless you can offer support to those affected, stay out. The same with Roe v. Wade. Until you can have a baby or an abortion, shut up. I offer an alternative.I speak with the experience of a survivor. Said Politician agrees to spend nine months in jail in a private cell. The first night he's going to get rapped. He will then have nine months to think about it.
What is Paul Ryans polishes on brith control ?
