Pro-Choice Woman Legislator Needed a "Timeout"?!
A huge thank-you to everyone who said "vagina" yesterday in solidarity with pro-choice Michigan state Rep. Lisa Brown.
The anti-choice leadership of the Michigan House of Representatives silenced Rep. Brown after she said the word "vagina" while speaking out against an anti-choice bill last week.
Now, anti-choice state Rep. Wayne Schmidt is saying that silencing Rep. Brown was "like giving a kid a timeout for a day."
This comes after a spokesman for the anti-choice House speaker called a speech by pro-choice Rep. Barb Byrum a "temper tantrum."
Speaking out for women's rights is a "temper tantrum" deserving a "timeout"?!
And these guys wonder why women don't support them.

Obrigado, my friends!
Who exactly does anybody think they are to tell ANY of us what to do with what is inside of YOUR or MY body??!! If it concerns my body, it's MY decision, end of story. Since when did our democracy become so anti-choice??
Just out of curiosity, what does calling the name of our body parts by their correct terminology have to do with being inappropriate? If the anti-choice people are so mature, why are they afraid of calling body parts what they are, aren't we all adults here, or does that make pro-life sound wrong, like forcing people to be human incubators, or isn't that exactly what it is? I'm sure everyone knows that babies come out of vaginas, and if it's mine we're talking about, I have every right to decide that NOTHING comes out of my own body without my permission. Thank you very much. I guess it's too graphic for the rest of the world. That's fine, I don't tell anyone else what to do with their bodies and I expect the same respect in return.
Everyone has different religions and beliefs and no one's should be made law over any other individual's rights.
Condoning pro-life is as bad as saying rape and violation of people's bodies is ok. Since when? Why should you or me or anyone else have to carry a baby they either do not want, and the reason is theirs and they don't have to explain it to you or anyone else, whether it's because financially they can't afford it, because every time they look into that child's eyes they will see their rapist's face staring back at them, because they don't want their kid to grow up in the system or a foster home, because maybe that parent has AIDS or some major hereditary condition they don't want their kid to live a short life with or suffer through as maybe it's more cruel to force them to live, because maybe their parents are both drug addicts and are afraid that because of their actions their child will be born with crippling defects, or maybe they just don't like or want kids. I almost forgot to mention that with this economy I wouldn't condone bringing future children into a world filled with war and foreclosures and possible starvation because their families can't keep their jobs. Plus we already have a massive overpopulation problem to deal with, but people continue to want a half a dozen kids. And fine, that's their decision, but the decision to not have them belongs to me and each one of you as an individual person. You say killing the unborn is wrong, I say forcing someone to have something grow inside of them and rip through their vaginal wall after 9 months with actual potential risks to their health without that woman's permission wrong. And yes, people do die in labor. Some people have such high health risks that they are fore-warned by their doctor not to have children because it would be dangerous to them and the potential child. Yet many have them anyway. So does that mean if you don't want kids then you should never have an intimate life with another person, because birth control and condoms and other methods of contraceptives can most definitely fail. Also, many insurance companies also play God with our bodies by giving women even up into their thirties a hard time getting sterilized if they want to either due to health risks or because they don't want kids or don't want any more kids than they already have, and the insurance companies and people performing the procedure to sterilize them try to convince them they still want kids or eventually will, even if they want nothing to do with having one. Then they say you have to be a certain age and have at least 3 kids before you can DECIDE NOT TO HAVE kids, or that you are at your limit. Our laws and predjudice towards women in general and individually are highly flawed and self-righteous. In any case, we shouldn't have to justify defending our own bodies.
That's what women are to this type of male -- children, to be silenced, to be shaped, to be told what to do. We are not equals to them, for sure.
Mr. Schmidt's comments regarding Ms. Brown's statements are typical of a man in love with power. He needs to have e-mails from all of us letting him know that women are to be taking seriously and that this is not a "side show." His e-mail address is:

Mr. Schmidt;
You are so in love with your sense of entitlement that you have forgotten that women are not "your little children" to punish and try to humiliate. You are so anti-American, we are all EQUALS in the eyes of the LAW in this country, we ALL deserve choices. Please join the Taliban and move to the Middle East to oppress women......if you must.
From a 68 year old AMERICAN woman.
