Tell Anti-Contraception Members of Congress: "I Have a Say!"
Kristin Koch is the deputy director of communications for online advocacy strategies for NARAL Pro-Choice America.
There is something seriously wrong when Congress holds a hearing on birth control and yet refuses to allow any pro-choice witnesses to speak.
As Amy Poehler and Seth Meyers said on "Saturday Night Live" this weekend, "Really?!?"
By the way, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is calling out Republican leaders for refusing to record a hearing featuring the woman who was denied a chance to testify at last week's hearing.
This all is beyond ridiculous. Don't let anti-choice politicians in Congress refuse to let you have a say. Record your 30-second video talking about why birth control is important to you.
Get inspired by watching what Nancy Keenan would have told Congress had she been allowed to speak:
Then, record your 30-second video today about why birth control is important to you.
We've provided all the instructions you need to submit your video on our coalition website, but feel free to contact us at CAN@prochoiceamerica.org if you have questions.

It would be nice for those of us who have no way to record a video to have a petition or letter to sign. I have a feeling you will get a LOT more people signing than doing videos.
I HAVE A SAY! As a woman I was offended that we were not allowed to speak at a hearing that directly affects my life and my choice. Birth control is used to treat so many other ailments that women suffer from. Yes, it does prevent pregnancy...but I really do not care about the reasoning why a woman takes it. If she is taking a form of birth control...it is because she needs it, period. No one has the right to tell me that I cannot have this basic medication that billions of women have benefited from...including myself. I can promise this...MY SAY will be heard via the ballot box in November. I will do everything I can to ensure those legislators who want to deny my access to this medication are not elected into office. WE WILL BE HEARD!
For men to not have ANY women on that oanel was absolutely ridiculous. I mean who do they think they are? Wmen outnumber men and I say we all get together and vote them out of a job. Birthcontrol is very important to many women for many different reasons. Some use it to regulate their monthly cycle, some use it for ovarian cysts and YES it's used for birth control. It really bothers me that men want to have a say over what I do with MY body. Their opinion shouldn't even be considered and as a matter of fact how POMPASS of a male to think he has a say over womens health issues. If you want a baby then go find some woman who agrees with you and have one. Just leave me alone!! This is such a hot button subject for me.
Im all for this but I don't have video equipment & a tripod. Guess having a say in this very important debate is only for rich women. Sounds to me there's some Republican influence there obstructing those to have a say by putting obstacles in the way.
I am a women, I have a say.
Without the ability to make our own personal medical decisions, we do not have full citizenship. We have all of the responsibilities of citizenship and none of the associated rights. Stop using our personal medical decisions as a political football. We can be trusted with our own bodies!
Hi Veronica and Donna, Thanks for voicing your concern. We understand that not everyone has access to a camera or laptop that records video or a smart phone. The "I Have a Say" campaign is just one way that you can speak out to members of Congress about this important issue. We encourage you to use this link to write to your members of Congress to make sure they know your views: http://action.prochoiceamerica.org/site/Advocacy?pagename=homepage&id=5143&s_src=2012_adv_bcblunt_socnet
I am a woman and I have a say! There are women who dedicated their lives for the freedom, rights, and privileges we enjoy today! Let's fight to keep those rights! Women need to speak up against these men that are trying to censor us. Let's show them what year it REALLY is, ladies!
Good grief, USA - "Land of the FREE"???? I live in South Africa and NO (man) one would even contemplate my right to choose to practice birth control. I am appalled not only at the apparent erosion of personal rights and freedoms in the USA, but at women simply not standing up for themselves in significant numbers to never have this calamity occur in the first place. Women up and make your voices heard, girls!!!
I believe that Washington should stay out of the medical office and certainly out of a womens body.
Please find a media person who can communicate to young women- to communicate to the new generation of youth so they understand how important these issues are to their own health and choices... I love Nancy and am her age, but find a quick sound bites young woman to speak to the youth... they are out there!!! thank you.. love that you are fighting the good fight.
I'll give my egg a name when Sperm gets vital protection under "personhood" When men find out they can't ejaculate w/o being forced to become a parent then we have an argument.
Also, won't ever give the government my decision as to wether or not to become a parent. Won't give the government the decision as to having someone else parent my child. Won't be giving the government any kind of legal binding inside my uterus - fertile or not.
Someone should tell them they don't become any more righteous by legislating women give birth to every fertilized egg. I'm plenty happy with the way abortion is going - 1.3 million women a year can't be wrong.
I am a grandmother, over 6o, and I remember the days far too well of pre-Roe vs Wade. Hence, I am too old to need birth control. However, I now have a 20 year old granddaughter and I can't imagine her having to go through the hell and torture of carrying an unwanted child. I do not comprehend how throwing America back into the dark ages will help our nation even one iota. Please America, WAKE UP! We need to go forward not backwards.
