Protecting Choice, Restoring Sanity
On Saturday, October 30, thousands of sane, reasonable Americans will convene on the National Mall in Washington for Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity. And NARAL Pro-Choice America will be there, because the right to make personal, private decisions about your own body is a bedrock principle of any sane society.
And right now we're calling on you, the Heroes, to help us come up with a slogan that sums up why voting for pro-choice candidates is so important this November. The slogan will be featured on a sticker that our volunteers will hand out to thousands millions billions of people at the rally. Imagine your pro-choice slogan, on a sticker, at the Mall, seen by 50 billion Americans!*
We'll put the slogans to a vote, and then print the winner on the sticker that our volunteers hand out to thousands googolplex a buncha people. But act now - you only have until October 8 to submit your entry!
The Rally to Restore Sanity is fitting on so many levels. We've seen plenty of extreme positions and downright ridiculous statements from a cast of anti-choice characters who could take their extreme views to Congress if we don't win in November:
- "A bright new star" in the anti-choice movement, Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell from Delaware, believes that condoms are "anti-human" and "will not protect you from AIDS."
- Ken Buck, running for Senate in Colorado, opposes abortion - even in the cases of rape or incest.
- Senate candidate Pat Toomey from Pennsylvania has announced already that he wants to end legal abortion and put abortion-care providers in jail
If these candidates win, they will "keep fear alive" for years to come.
