Gross Sign For Sale: "Bury Obamacare with Kennedy"
I'm sure many of you heard about - and saw pictures from - the 9/12 rally held in D.C. this past weekend. What they lacked in numbers they sure made up for in hateful, disgusting signs. You can view various flickr photostreams here and here.
This sign, in particular, really caught my eye:

This sign is both disrespectful and callous and it literally made my jaw drop and stomach churn. Evidently, I'm not alone, as many people from George Stephanopoulos and David Shuster to Matthew Yglesias, independocrat from Daily Kos, and Sarah Posner from The American Prospect have all expressed similar outrage.
Using the death of Sen. Ted Kennedy - a longtime advocate for universal health care - to defeat health-care reform is outrageous. And do you want to know who is behind this sign? The anti-choice group American Life League. Take a closer look:

And please believe that the dude holding the sign in the photo called his representatives in Congress to tell them what he thinks about health-care reform.
Don't let his voice be the only voice they hear: Contact your members in Congress today and urge them to oppose any attempt to ban reproductive-health services in the new health-care system.

My God...is the irony not lost on these people? How can one claim to support health and celebrate someone's death? How can they claim to promote life but seek to deny milllions of Americans health-care? It is shocking...and yet it isn't. Thank you for exposing this. Keep up the good work!
Absolutely disgusting. I'll be contacting my representative.
Pretty sad! The part that made me the most sick was the woman smiling next to the man w/ the indeed callous and disrespectful sign...what did she have to be so happy and proud a/b I wondered? Does she really feel so morally superior that trying to irradicate the supposedly God-given gift of free will makes her smile so? stomping on other peoples' rights to make decisions in their own lives makes her proud and content, feel closer to god? How disconnected we humans can be from humane care and concern when we get caught up in our own righteous beliefs. I suppse that is the beauty of America, but I still think the Kansas abortion docotor's (Tillman or Tiller?) murder while serving as an usher in his church points to the hypocrisy inherent in such extreme christian beliefs and marks a sad state of affairs for all Americans. I know all too many Missourians who were probably relieved and glad a/b his murder, but those people I have no idea how to even begin to relate to, and I'm thankful for those who run Naral!
Talk about fucked up...
How the hell can anyone person or group justify the use of a dead person who would have been clearly opposed to their evil agenda in an attempt to advance that agenda ?
And "Obamacare" ?
Anyone who would call it that is more likely to be a communist in the derogative sense than those who support our president's attempts to undo the damage wrought by greed and indifference in the health care spectrum.
Did the political defeat stop any chance of Obama's health reform going through?
