Does anyone know of any events in Denver or even in Colorado? Colorado NARAL's page hasn't been updated in a while - doesn't look like they're on the ball with this.
Thanks Kristin and Shelby for the updates. I've included them above.
Dena - I'll let you know if we hear of something in Denver or Colorado.
Anything in Los Angeles?
Is there anything in Los angeles or southern california?
The Portland vigil has been canceled. They couldn't get a permit. Please spread the word...
Thanks sarah - I updated the post and will RT you as well.
Northampton, MA

The New Mexico Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice will be sponsoring a memorial service in Albuquerque honoring Dr. George Tiller.
The service is scheduled for tonight, Monday June 1, 2009 at 7:00 pm at St. Thomas of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 425 University NE.
Dr. Tiller's murderer is an American terrorist, pure and simple. The reckless instigations by right wing nutburgers like DeLay and O'Reilly just ferment the arrogance of self-righteousness that these psychopaths feel. This heinous act is no different than those of the religious extremists like the Taliban.
PORTLAND VIGIL Back on!! Gather at Jamison Square in the Pearl District from 8-9pm. Bring your candles (non-drip). Must not exceed 150 individuals per Portland Parks and Rec.
Announcement on local radio station mentioned vigil at Pioneer courthouse- original location. Not sure if it makes sense to switch with momentum heading toward pioneer. Will update if I learn more.
I am so saddened by this murder of Dr. Tiller, someone who was performing legal procedures to help women in very difficult times. This is an outrage by misguided, perverted Christians who don't even understand what life is all about. Talk about tolerance! I hope there will be some vigils in the L.A./O.C. area here in Calif. Pro-choice always. Vicki Z.
These morons are waging a Holy War right here. Operation Rescue and the religious leaders are the 'moral authority" to commit murder for those so inclined. Not an unpredictable outcome. These people are terrorists and should be designated as such. Perhaps the same tactics that were used by the Southern Poverty Law Center against the KKK would work.
They are under the delusion that they know when life begins. No one can know that. If human life were meant to begin at conception, why are 30-50% of conceptions spontaneously aborted with no intervention?
I hope the Obama administration treats this as a vast conspiracy to undermine freedom of religion and violate peoples civil rights, because that's what it will take to stop this.
I was just sick about Dr Tiller murdered. Every time I hear about something like this it is just hard for me to believe people can hate like this. They are sick, sick people and the right-wingers, like O'Reilly and his ilk condone it. We have come a long way from the back alleys and the "wire hanger" abortions - and these people want to put women back in the dark ages. Do they realize we can even vote now?
Any anti-choice vigils or serious threats in austin TX?
As a former fellow worker at Akron Women's Clinic, an abortion/birth control clinic, I am aware of the stress and dedication involved in providing abortions.
I am just so sorry those terrorist bastards shot such a fine physician. What a loss to women. What a loss to the world. What a loss to Tolerance.
Does anyone know of anything taking place in Philadelphia, PA or the surrounding area (PA, DE, NJ)?
I have worked for women's and reproductive rights for 30 years and cannot believe that we still have hateful crimes like these in our so called "progressive" country. When will this ever end?
Anything scheduled for san diego?
Hearing about the murder of Dr. Tiller made me sick to my stomach. The fact that that those who are anti choice think that actions such as this are acceptable is disgusting.
Emily- I just updated this post with information on a Philadelphia vigil tonight, 5:30 p.m., Love Park.
Life does not begin at conception.
Life began at least 3.5 billion years ago, and it has been continuous ever since. Every egg and every sperm starts out alive. When they merge then, and only then, is there is an increased chance a human will develop.
To try to frame this continuous process into a step function, with no life being on one side, and life on the other, is incorrect.
I hope all the terrorists implicated in this murder will be prosecuted.
Rachel Maddow had good coverage Monday night.

Ask MSNBC to put up clip of interview with Dr. Susan Wicklund.
Could not make it to the Portland vigil.
Fellow Portlanders, please keep Dr. Tiller and his family in your thoughts.
Some right-wingers such as O'Reilly, FOX News, etc, make me sick, commending such heinious violence!
Being pro-choice, no one should believe in an "eye for an eye", aka revenge murder against people who believe in tolerance.
The murder of Dr. Tiller undermined the civil rights of women. His murderer is
nothing but a misguided psychopath, killing a fine physician behind everyone's backs.
Also, anti-choice groups need to get their heads out of the 1950s!
Enough said.

Bless Dr. Tiller, his staff, and his family in this time of mourning, and bless the Doctor and his staff for all his good work on behalf of women and children.
Why are these so-called pro-life advocates wasting their energy and resources on fetuses when there are nine million ALIVE children dying every year from starvation and neglect? SHAME.
Please Higher Power, RESCUE the rest of us from this crazy mob.
Portland, OR: 8 p.m. on Monday, Pioneer Courthouse Square - We just learned the vigil was cancelled because they couldn't get a permit. Pass it on, please
===========
What do you mean by they couldn't get a permit? Why not?
As a Portlander, I'm sorry to see our event was canceled. Moreover, I KNOW that public assembly requires no permit here, so long as the roads/public right of way is not blocked. Someone asked last week regarding the Portland gay marriage rally. No permit should be required for a gathering of that size under the constitution.
I agree with most of the commens on here. Especially, Connie, you said, "Why are these so-called pro-life advocates wasting their energy and resources on fetuses when there are nine million ALIVE children dying every year from starvation and neglect? SHAME.
Please Higher Power, RESCUE the rest of us from this crazy mob."
And, I just wanna say, couldn't agree with you more!
And, Ted, you said, "These morons are waging a Holy War right here. Operation Rescue and the religious leaders are the 'moral authority" to commit murder for those so inclined. Not an unpredictable outcome. These people are terrorists and should be designated as such. Perhaps the same tactics that were used by the Southern Poverty Law Center against the KKK would work.

My thoughts almost exactly!
And, to everyone else, thanks! Majority of you seem like such logical, level-headed, and caring people...you make me proud to be pro-choice!
May peace be with Dr. Tiller and his family. Peace out, to us all!
There will be a vigil tonight (Tuesday) in Bangor, Maine at 6pm.
Check out www.mabelwadsworth.org for details.
Thank you all so much for writing in - a virtual community of mourning @ a time such as this is truely needed and by me, very much appreciated. By viewing the list of scheduled vigils across the nation, I realize we are truely one voice for truth, choice, and equal rights. As a pro-choice Christian, I ask each of you reading this to pray/meditate for the safety of all those health-care practitioners who risk their safety each day to continue to provide these valuable services.
May we proceed in a spirit of peace and community throughout this difficult week.
What's happening in LA Co., Vta. Co.?

I agree with so many of the comments, especially Ted's and the woman who said she had been fighting this good fight for 30 years. I have been fighting it since 1972 before Roe was decided. I am terrified of these American "Jihadists" who are attempting to control the exercise of fundamental rights with the threat of death. I am a lawyer, as is my husband, and we both agreed last night that the tactics used by the SCLC against the KKK would be most appropriate. I think O'Reilly, Limbaugh, Beck and some other commentators could be added in as co-conspirators.
Have courage, we have each other.

Will there be a vigil in Pensacola, FL? Please advise.
I worked in O.R. Recovery -Detroit Hosp. prior to Roe Vs. Wade.I would spend night after night trying to keep alive women & girls who were dying of illegical Abortions.
Some died. They were all given massive doses of the most powerful anti biotics available.
The ones who lived, would probably have shortened lives because of the damage the infections had done.
I left the Catholic Church because of my experience.
Late term abortines are only done on extreme cases where help was not found until later ie Retardation, poverty, repeated rape by a family member, no
emotional support by family.
No Dr. nor clinic should face death trying to help these desperate girls / women.
Don't judge yor sisters until you have walked in their shoes.
Lets not return to those days.
Annamary Waldon
I would definitely attend a Denver vigil. And I would drive 100 miles to attend a vigil if NARAL Denver does not organize one here. Please keep us in the loop.
It is evident that this crime is 2 fold. Out of control gun violence and the attempt to intimidate and repudiate our right to choose. We shall prevail as this martyr of our cause shall live on in history. The perpetrator, misguided or psychotic will not deter us from our right to choose the use of our own body. The first line of defence against government intervention in the private sanctum of our own bodies. That these fanatics would be so arrogant as to decide the course of our lives by demanding that we follow their edicts and not our own conscious, is archaic, fascist, reprehensible and the antithesis of freedom. The freedom to choose our own path. We must prevail. The country has decided. His trial should be one of fact and swift justice.
Are there any vigils planned for Milwaukee, WI?
Words can't say how disgusted and appalled I am at this murder in the name of God. How very "pro-life"!
Dr. Tiller was an extremely brave man and a true American hero. God bless him and his family. Also his courageous clinic staff. Long may they do their good work!
If the right to lifers were really concerned by the killing unborn life, they are doing a fine job of empowering men or women to destroy the life of innocent people who don't agree with their misguided attempts of stopping pro-choice legal means of using the laws that protect women!
Again the prolifers are showing themselves for the kind of people that resort to ending innocent lives by murder. They should understand, even in their muddy mindset regarding the real meaning of life. Get the leaders of your groups to invest in keeping unwanted births to grow in loving, supportive and caring homes. Give support to real places that care and support all these lives you so eagerly want to save, not to the churches, organizations and religious leaders that preach hate, division and intolerance to the full rights of every citizen of the USA.
i think this killing was senseless.

Does anyone know of any plans for Tucson, Arizona?
I lived in Wichita most of my life and I can tell you, this was a loving caring man.
This was crazy and I hope Fox News & Bill O'Riealy are happy.
Fox New is so full of hate****
I only watch to see who the sponcers , so I may sure not to buy their products. I hope others will do the same if we quit buying products that paid for these shows. Maybe they wi get the message.
Remembering Dr. George Tiller
Vigil at Congregation Kol Ami, 5:30-7:30pm
1200 N. La Brea Avenue, West Hollywood, CA 90038
Los Angeles, CA.:
Please join Planned Parenthood Los Angeles, Hollywood NOW and Congregation Kol Ami as we honor the life of Dr. Tiller, who was murdered in Kansas this past Sunday as he attended church services with his wife. His death is an enormous loss for his family, patients, and friends, and for the women and their families across America who turned to him under some of life's most difficult medical circumstances.
Join Planned Parenthood Los Angeles CEO/President Mary-Jane Waglé, West Hollywood Mayor Abbe Land, and Rabbi Denise Eger to remember Dr. Tiller and to stand in solidarity with those who work every day to ensure that women and their families receive compassionate and professional care, even in the face of violence and intimidation.
Any news about plans for a vigil in the Denver, CO area? Wichita is only 8 hours from here and I was thinking about driving there for the funeral on Saturday. But it would be nice if something was happening in my area to show support. I went to get help from Dr. Tiller about 10 years ago. It was one of the hardest choices I have ever had to make in my life but I am so greatful that I had the CHOICE to go to him when I needed the help. I am deeply deeply saddened to hear of the heinous act of murder committed against him. His murder is a tragedy to the women he could have helped.
When a police officer dies, officers attend in great numbers--in uniform. Same when an active serviceman dies. I think it would be fitting for our medical community to attend Dr. Tiller's funeral in great numbers to show respect for their brave fallen colleague. Let them wear scrubs and lab coats. It would also make a strong statement of support that is much needed and long overdue.
Jeri in Kansas
After reading all the comments here and on other websites, I am convinced absolutely this is just another side of the war against women. Please people, don't EVER call these fanatics pro-life. They don't give a fig for any woman's life. They are only against, not for anything. The males who run these anti-abortion groups do have the mentality of wife beaters. When the wife gets strong they go beserk. Read Andrea Dworkin, she really understood the anti-choice folks, their psychosis.
My concern now is what will the women do who had appointments at the clinic yesterday, and in the days to come? Where will we ever find someone of the courage and tenacity of Dr. Tiller? I am very concerned about those women.
Dr. Tiller- presente!
We need a national event. In support of Dr. Tiller, and in protest of American terrorism and its support by Fox TV, etc.
I just got this email today... Wed June 3... I live in Albuquerque and want to go to a vigil. The Albuquerque vigil just says Monday. Was that June 1st or is it next Monday. I really would like to go.
thanks
PLEASE POST ONE FOR LOS ANGELES.
THANKYOU!
Hi Ann, the LA one is listed above and here, but here is the info:
West Hollywood, CA: 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, Vigil at Congregation Kol Ami: 1200 N. La Brea Avenue, West Hollywood, CA 90038
Hope this helps.
Thanks to all who are hosting and attending vigils. With you in spirit.
I am very concerned that Fred Phelps and the other anti-choice terrorists will be in Wichita en masse and will disrupt Dr. Tiller's funeral. Does anyone know of any organized plans to protect the family, like is done at veterans' funeral? Should I plan to drive to Wichita?
I first saw the front of the Star Tribune (a Minneapolis, MN newspaper) when I went to work on Monday (I don't often watch the news). I saw that an abortion provider had been murdered. I never could have imagined it was Dr. Tiller. That man has already suffered so much! It has been with great courage that he continued on with his clinic even in the face of great adversity. I believe that every attack on a woman's clinic is an attack on women's right to choose how to live thier life, and it is an attack against women's rights over their bodies and reproduction. Nothing--in my belief alters a woman's life more than that of having a baby. Having an unwanted baby is utterly devastating--both for the mother and the child. Adoption isn't an answer to many also, as there is so much emotional trauma involved in that so many cannot do that. It is not the answer for them. For centuries, and even among the Kung women of Africa (in the Kalihari desert--the san people), women have known of natural abortifacients and used them. It was accepted and wasn't a big deal. Now it is a big deal because women have demanded control of their lives and equality with men. This has rocked the boat. Women who are in control doesn't sit easy with sexist patriarchal people and the institutions they support.
Now it's a big deal because the anti-choicers argue that life is easier now than it was then, so, according to them, it is easier to care for a baby now. I ask, how is it easier? How is it easy to find a decent daycare and the money to pay for it? How is it easy to try to make rent, pay the daycare, make the carpayment, insurance, repairs, baby food, clothes, diapers medical bills, etc etc? In some ways it is easier (modern conveniences) and in someways it is harder (lack of community and family support and help). Either way abortion has always been practiced by women when women have had control in the government and in making the laws. Even in simple societies where women are not oppressed, abortion is viewed as a normal event.
I feel saddened by Dr. Tiller's death and I grieve with his family, friends and staff in our loss of him. While I did not know him personally, the fact that he went to church and helped in his church by passing bulletins speaks volumes about his character. I picture him as a warm, caring person who will be missed alot by those closest to him.
I am devastated by Dr. Tiller's death. I am a genetic counselor and knew Dr. Tiller. I was wondering if anyone knows of any more events or vigils planned in the Boston area in the aftermath of his death?
All sympathy and gratitude to Dr. Tiller's family for supporting this noble man; special thanks to his staff for their compassionate treatment of women who are in desperate need of their services.
Because of this act of terrorism, I would also like to express my appreciation to ALL the brave physicians and their staffs who endure the DANGER, harassment and self-righteous bigotry of these cretins.
With sincerest regards, Sue from Long Island, NY.
Dr Tiller was an American Hero. He was one of the most caring, gentle, compassionate men I've ever had the privilage to meet.
Dr Tiller, you saved my niece Jeanettes' life, you helped our family through one of the darkest, most desperate and unthinkable moments we ever experienced. When we thought there was no where to turn, there you were. I called you the "Wizard", because of the incredible journey we had taken to find you, in Kansas. You are, and will always be my Hero. Rest in Peace.
We will continue this fight.
They will not win.
My family sends our deepest sympathies to Mrs.Tiller and her family.

Are there any rallies or vigils planned for the Detroit area?
Anything scheduled for Louisville KY or Indianapolis?
Some people who support abortion were fooled by the pro abortion fallacy that a fertilized egg is not a child.... nor is an undifferentiated mass of cells but this is a lie. If not a child what ? Each one of us reading and submitting comments were once a tiny collection of cells in a womb. Are we not glad we were allowed to live?
I pray for the Tiller family ;it is awful to lose a loved one through an act of violence and I also pray for Scott Roeder who sadly like Dr Tiller resorted to violence as a solution Abortion is never a solution for anyone It is always a death sentence for the baby and a life sentence for the poor mother A deliberate decision to abort goes totally against the natural instincts of a woman to nurture and protect and it is very damaging to the body heart and mind of any poor soul who endures such an experience. If we really care about women's health we can neither condone allow or encourage abortion. There are some things in life which are simply wrong Both slavery and abortion treat a human being as if it is a disposable asset. The child in the womb is not the property of the mother nor is it the property of the father It is a new citizen with rights that should be upheld and respected in Law. "
is that true??
I want to quote your post in my blog. It can?
And you et an account on Twitter?
