NARAL Pro-Choice America at Fem2.0
Well, here we are... one week after the awesomeness that was the Fem2.0 conference and I have yet to write up my recap. I have no real reason for the delay other than the nasty, nasty cold that I was beginning to develop a week ago that hit me hard right smack in the middle of the week. Excuses, excuses.
So without any further ado (what a funny word), I give you my thoughts, and then a wrap-up of some great posts out there in the blogosphere.
I thought the conference was amazing. There was an incredibly diverse population of participants with a variety of backgrounds and perspectives. We can always strive for more, naturally, but this was by far the best representation I've ever seen with my own eyes. These thoughts are echoed in the many blog posts I've read.
Another thing I saw with my own eyes? The fantastic tweetchat going on behind the panelists. It was either the greatest thing ever, the most distracting thing ever... or both. But to read people's reactions to discussions in real time? It was a new an interesting sensation that I think helped enrich the experience... at least for me.
I leave you with this fantastic video from one of the sessions I attended: At the Crossroads: Organizing the Next Generation of Feminists Online and Off. This panel consisted of Jen Nedeau, Tanya Tarr, and Cynthia Samuels. The amazing and incredible @nerdette from Not My Gal put together this video to capture some of the most dynamic parts of the discussion:
I urge you to watch it in its entirety... really good stuff.
Now it's time for some alternate perspectives... Here's what YOU had to say about the conference:
- Why Every Nonprofit Should Embrace the Web 2.0 World by Allyson Kapin at Frogloop
- Fem 2.0 Where Are We Going? Notes from a Conference (A Special Tuesday Tour) by Cynthia Samuels at Don't Gel Too Soon
- See3 at Fem2.0 by Dorothee Royal-Hedinger at see what's out there
- Feminism 2.0 Debrief - Opening Plenary by Veronica at Viva La Feminista
- Fem 2.0: Praises, Criticisms, and Thoughts by DJ Nelson on all diva media
- Womanism 101 by elledub08 at Black Girl Blogging
- Women at a Crossroads - Fem2pt0 by nerdette at Not My Gal
- Feminism 2.0 Debrief - Linkfluence Presentation by Veronica at Viva La Feminista
- Fem 2.0: An Intersectional Identity by Jen at Women's Rights blog on Change.org
- How Feminist Organizations Should Talk To Feminist Bloggers by NewsCat at the Feminist Underground
- Omero: Women's Issues In The Post-Ledbetter Era by Margie Omero at Pollster.com
- The Feminist Web According to Linkfluence by Sarah Granger at techPresident
And, as a reminder, you can always do a twitter search for #fem2 to find out what everyone else is/was saying, a flicker search for fem2pt0 to see some more pictures (like the one above), and visit the fem2pt0 website for more about what people thought!
NARAL Pro-Choice America was proud to be a sponsor, I was psyched to be the lucky one that got to attend, I hope the rumors that this becomes an annual conference are true!

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
