Liberty Lowdown: Power into the New Year
'Tis the season to reflect on the past year. If I think back on all of our Liberty Lowdowns, I remember chasing people dressed as a voting booth, driving around Denver delivering Yes We Can cans, and forcing my co-workers to sing. Ah, what great times.
So in the spirit of the new year, I've decided to make a top five list of my fave and most fun Liberty Lowdowns:
1. Mamma Mia, here Bush Goes Again! (perfect now that Bush has dropped the HHS rule)
3. Get your vote on...or get chased
4. Get out the Vote: Obama for Pro-Choice America (the one with Jack Black!)
5. Keep McCain out of the White House? Priceless.
For this week's Liberty Lowdown, I'd like to ask ya'll to watch and forward one of our amazing free.will.power videos - POWER. "Choice is power - have it with no pickles or power steering."
I hope everyone's new year is filled with power, choice, and, if you want them, pickles. Mine will be filled with all three.

So we get Tim Kaine for DNC chair -- gee, thanks, Obama.
This is going to have long term implications for which candidates get supported most strongly and for the strength of pro-choice forces in the legislature and is precisely the type of back stabbing I have anticipated from Obama on this issue.
Here goes obama again, another Pro-life appointment, this time for the head of the DNC. Way to go Naral.
DNC chair isn't a straight appointment. From Wikipedia:
The chairperson of the DNC (currently Howard Dean) is elected by vote of members of the Democratic National Committee. The DNC is composed of the chairs and vice-chairs of each state Democratic Party Committee, two hundred members apportioned among the states based on population and generally elected either on the ballot by primary voters or by the State Democratic Party Committee, a number of elected officials serving in an ex-officio capacity, and a variety of representatives of major Democratic Party constituencies.

Also, NARAL rates Tim Kaine as mixed choice: http://www.prochoiceamerica.org/choice-action-center/in_your_state/who-decides/state-profiles/virginia.html
Not the best, but could be worse.
Karen,
Kaine initially did not want to be chairman but was heavily lobbied by Obama. yes the rest of the members vote the guy in, but they defer to whomever the president chooses, aka, Kaine. Kaine wants parental consent and other restrictions. Obama is not pro-choice. you guys got had.
Love the video! It's powerful.
