Off to the Races: Ashwin Madia week has arrived!
From now until the election, NARAL Pro-Choice America will focus on a different congressional race each week. This week is Ashwin Madia week, so stay tuned to Blog for Choice for more information about Madia's race!
Another Monday means another "Race of the Week," and this time, it's Ashwin Madia's turn. Ashwin is an Iraq war veteran and attorney and he is running for an open seat in the swing district of MN-3. Here's Madia giving an overview of what he's about:
Flashy video? No. But an inspiring and exciting pitch for why he should be MN-3's congressman? Yes!
Madia is fully pro-choice, and stated on his Stonewall DFL questionnaire, "The next Congressperson from the Third Congressional District needs to be both a strong advocate for pro-choice legislation as well as someone who will recognize and take a firm stand against future 'stealth' efforts to undermine a woman's right to choose. I pledge to be that kind of Congressperson if I am fortunate enough to earn your support in this race."
His opponent is anti-choice Erik Paulsen - a state representative who is no friend to a woman's right to choose. State Rep. Paulsen has consistently earned 0% ratings from NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota and 100% ratings from Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life. He has introduced numerous pieces of anti-choice legislation in the Minnesota State House, including bills on abortion reporting requirements, constitutional standards for abortion, biased counseling, and mandatory delays.
No way... not on our watch! Please visit Ashwin Madia's website and see how you can help elect a pro-choice cadidate to represent this swing district!
You can learn more about the race on our Race of the Week webpage. Not a Minnesota voter? No problem.
