Day 1: Nancy Keenan Speaks at the Democratic National Convention
So Day 1 of the convention is officially over - as far as speeches are concerned - and while I'm out-of-my-mind exhausted from the fabulous day's activities, I wanted to do a small wrap-up, starting with the biggest highlight:
Hey-oh! Nancy Keenan hit a home run with her speech tonight at the Convention. I watched it from my spot in the Big Tent, but some of our lucky staff members got to see it live, and one of them (Lauren)took this picture:

Can you believe Lauren was that close to the podium? I can't. We're all super jealous. Thankfully, Lauren took a bunch of great pictures, so hop on over to our convention page (scroll down) to check them out. You can also find the video of Nancy's speech.
Moving on, we also delivered our fabulous Yes We Can! cans to all of the delegations, which was no small feat! It was great meeting all of the pro-choice delegates, and spending time with hardworking NARAL Pro-Choice America volunteers, like Susan (below) who happens to be my personal favorite (because she rode around with me all morning):

Michelle Obama gave a fantastic speech as well, and it didn't go unnoticed. I know I, personally, thought she knocked it out of the park. As did pro-choice Sen. Ted Kennedy - what a treat to hear him speak.
And finally, as Lauren mentioned below, the Christian Science Monitor was one of the many media outlets covering the Big Tent... and the only media outlet covering my stupid face. You'll have to click to see, but I think I'm saying, "... and how anyone in their right mind could vote for McCain, I'll never know. Oh look! Daryl Hannah!"
So all-in-all, it was a great, big, long, and fabulous day. Did you watch the convention? What did you think?

But at the end of day 2 of the Democratic Convention, how do you explain the fact that the "Messiah" is still sinking in the polls? Shout and scream louder, please.
NARAL should run lots of ads that "pro-choice" means choice for women's lives, choice for equal pay, choice for women entering jobs previously held only by men. It was pro-choice that gave women the ability to run for VP and be something other than under-paid secretaries, teachers or nurses.
Pro-life is really "punish the girls and women who have babies out of wedlock". It kills the mother instead of the child. Rich people like McCain don't care about such things because they can go elsewhere to get abortions if they want to. Can't we run pictures of women running down dark allies, dropping dead in a heap at the end and no one being able to identify them? We're headed back to the days of "The Scarlet Letter" in the 18th century.
