Not even Carly Fiorina knows McCain's record
Washington Post reported that in a chat yesterday with reporters about women and health insurance, Carly Fiorina, one of Sen. McCain's top advisors, said:
"a real, live example which I've been hearing a lot about from women: There are many health insurance plans that will cover Viagra but won't cover birth-control medication. Those women would like a choice."
If that's what Fiorina really thinks, maybe she should take another look at her candidate's record. McCain actually voted against a proposal that would have required insurance companies to cover prescription contraception in the same way they pay for Viagra. [Clinton/Reid amendment to FY'06 Budget Resolution, S.Con.Res.18, 3/17/05.]
While we all know about McCain's 125 anti-choice votes (see pages 6-10 of his record), a lot of people still don't know how extreme McCain's record is. Including, apparently, one of his own senior advisors.

We also do not know where Obama stands on women's issues as he is constantly changing his mind depending on who he is talking to. As Obama leans more and more to the right you will find yourselves defending Bush and McCain policies. There is not much difference between Bush, McCain and Obama.
Is this something the president should be bothered with? This seems to be a problem between the employer and the insurance carrier or PBM
A few months ago there was a bill before Congress to allow those serving in the military overseas to have abortions at military hospitals. I wrote to Senator McCain - as a constituient from Arizona - and asked for his support. He wrote back, basically telling me that he thinks some folks use abortion as a means of birth control, so would not support the bill. Folks, some countries do not allow abortion - we do! that means our service women - if they are posted to one of these countries - can not have a legal abortion.
But we (government) will pay for them to have breast augmentation!!!
I pray that McCain's daughters and granddaughters never find themself at the hands of an illegal abortion practitionaer but that is what I am afraid he will drive us to.
I'm not crazy about Senator Obama and I am real tired of voting for the lesser of two evils instead of for choice. But I don't think we can afford four more years of the status quo. Unafforadable physically and mentally. Pray and vote!
Obama's plan to make health care more 'affordable' is a slap in the face to myself and other women with disabilities who get denied access to insurance coverage because of our pre-existing conditions.
He is no progressive, and I am embarrased that your organization naively insists otherwise!
