Victory in Montana: C Ya Later CI-100!
I just love a good victory! As Matt Singer wrote yesterday CI-100 will not qualify for the ballot!
For those not living in Montana and/or not familiar with CI-100, CI-100 would have put women's lives and health at risk. It would have allowed politicians not women, their families, or their doctors to decide what's best for Montana women. And it could have outlawed not only abortion, but birth control, stem-cell research, and in-vitro fertilization, too. Thankfully, Montanans sent a message that a dangerous and divisive amendment like CI-100 has no place in their state.
Friday, June 20 was the deadline for the backers of CI-100 to present enough signatures to qualify the amendment for the ballot, and yesterday we learned that they failed... miserably!
You can read more about it in today's Missoulian.
As a partner in Montanan's for Safe and Healthy Families, NARAL Pro-Choice Montana, the only grassroots organization in Montana dedicated solely to protecting your reproductive rights and freedoms, organized activists to volunteer at polling places, spoke to various clubs and groups, answered calls from confused citizens, and really worked hard to build a statewide movement of Montanans who will stand up for the values of freedom and privacy.
