democratic candidates' reactions to McCain's judges speech
Better late than never, right? From NBC's Mark Murray, check out the two democratic candidates' reactions to McCain's speech on judges (sorry I was slow to post these):
Obama: "The Straight Talk Express took another sharp right turn today as John McCain promised his conservative base four more years of out-of-touch judges that would threaten a woman's right to choose, gut the campaign finance reform that bears his own name, and trample the rights and interests of the American people," Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor said in a statement. "Barack Obama has always believed that our courts should stand up for social and economic justice, and what's truly elitist is to appoint judges who will protect the powerful and leave ordinary Americans to fend for themselves."
Clinton: "We won't take lectures on the right way to approach the Constitution from Sen. McCain, who voted for extreme conservative judges like Justice Thomas. In an effort to pander to conservative voters, Sen. McCain has signaled his intention to appoint right-wing judges who are committed to rolling back women's rights and civil rights, elevating the interests of big business over the rights of workers and consumers, affirming executive branch power grabs, and undermining our common core freedoms. Sen. Clinton has a different vision. She will appoint judges who respect the separation of powers, are steadfast in protecting civil rights and liberties, including the right of privacy, and who cherish equal justice under law."
Sigh. It's so nice to have two fully pro-choice candidates running for the nomination!

I am so disappointed. I will never support you again. How dare you say you are for Women's rights when you choose Obama over Hillary. I hope you wake up and retract your endorsement. Have you heard of Revrend Wright. No one can sit through what that mans says and not believe Obama feels the same way.
I am so so dissapointed. Hillary is the right choice.
This comment is a reply to "Sarah." You can be
disappointed with NARAL for supporting Senator
Obama, or vote for John McCain and set women back one hundred years! For some reason there are women who think Mrs. Clinton is somehow "entitled"
to the democratic nomination; she certainly IS NOT! Obama out-organized, and out-campaigned her,
that's all...and I am so tired of all this flap
over Rev. Wright. Obama should be judged on his own record, and his own views; how could he possibly hate white people when his own mother was
white!? That simply makes no sense at all. HE is as much WHITE as he is BLACK...and he's carmel colored because the black gene, in his case, was more dominate. America needs to wake up and stop being so stupid! There are good people of every race as well as bad; I believe it's not about the color of ones' skin, but the content of their character. For me, this is what makes Obama more electable...HRC has no scruples whatsoever. The name of the game is WIN at all cost, and I cannot knowingly support anyone like that! So, if there are more women out there who would rather vote for John McCain than the "probable" Black candidate, help yourselves...just know that Roe V
Wade will go out the window as soon as he's elected! In memory of my high school friend who got pregnant, whose Dad was a prominate doctor...
my friend who went on a "skiing trip" to Aspen, Co., and never returned...because my friend, who died from a "botched" abortion never saw her seventeenth birthday...I have not, and will not ever vote for a Republican nominee for any office!
Not even "dog catcher!"
And I thought that the republicans had the market cornered on fear mongering. I WILL be voting for Hillary, even if it is a write in. I am tired of people telling me that if I don’t vote for the Democrat, I will be responsible for women losing ground. Obama has ignored all voters rights in MI. He took his name off from our ballot, and no, that WAS NOT part of any deal that was made between the party and the candidates, so before writing back that he did what he agreed to do, LOOK at the FACTS. There were 7 states that held their primaries BEFORE the date that is written in the Democratic by-laws. I CAN NOT vote for someone who has been blowing off MY vote, as well as my DAUGHTER’S AND MOTHERS votes. To me, THAT is going back in time. And yes, I will STILL be helping with the women’s movement, just NOT through your NARAL. My GRANDMOTHER did NOT get eggs thrown at her for nothing! Obama has not only disregarded women’s votes, he disregarded two ENTIRE STATES votes. Now, that’s defending Democracy (please, be sure to feel the sarcasm in my words). Shame on you.
