LA Senate approves abortion ban

The Associated Press reports that Louisiana may become the first state since the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the federal ban to create a law prohibiting so-called "partial-birth" abortion.

Senators voted 38-0 to approve Sen. Ben Nevers' bill that would allow the surgery in just one situation: when failure to perform it would endanger the mother's life. The procedure would be a crime in all other cases, including situations where the pregnancy is expected to cause health problems for the mother.(Emphasis added)

Yeah, sorry ladies. No health exception for you. Sigh.

This is truly insulting and mind-boggling. It's nice to see that our lawmakers have the utmost respect for the health and well-being of this nation's mothers, sisters, daughters, aunts, nieces, etc. I wonder if the cruelty and selfishness of these lawmakers will ever hit home once it's THIER mother, daughter, sister, etc. who is afflicted with a health-complicated pregnancy and ends up needing this procedure, only to be denied it and end up dying because of it. When will these MEN learn that if the health of women isn't upheld and respected, WE DIE? It is women who give birth to the human race, including these male legislators. As bearers of the human race, we women deserve more respect than this. Scoffing at our health as these laws do is a slap in the face to us and reduces us to little more than the status of animals.
