SC law would require ultrasound
An anti-choice bill in South Carolina would mandate that women seeking abortions be forced to look at ultrasound images of the fetus.
The House Judiciary Committee advanced the proposal Wednesday without discussion.Proponents hope the bill will lead to fewer abortions, with more women opting for adoption or keeping their child.
Abortion rights activists have criticized the measure. They say the ultrasound should be an option because no woman should be forced to undergo a medically unnecessary procedure.
But trying to inspire guilt and fear is totally necessary, right?

Being forced to undergo an unnecessary procedure is one thing; and the question of who must pay for it is another. May one assume that the anti-choice people are going to pick up the tab for this? Are they also willing to pay for the woman's time? What's to going hourly wage for someone who is being subjected to an unwanted medical test against her will?

Jessica,
We are facing the same bills (SB 66 & HB 147) in Georgia. I am outraged at the forcing of the question to women who have chosen abortion. Further our bill mandates that low-income women who cannot afford to pay for the mandatory sonogram will be provided with a list of "FREE" private facilities. These so called free facilities are often Crisis Pregnancy Centers AKA "Fake Clinics" that will put the anti-abortion agenda.

These procedures can be stopped dead by accusing the State Legislature of dramatically increasing medical costs and if they still approve them then their votes must be forcefully used against them as unnecessary medical expenses.
