I am pro-choice because I think women deserve better than dying scared, in pain, covered in blood, alone on the floor of a motel room. It means that 43 years later, I think Gerri Santoro's life was worth something.

I confess I voted for Bush the first time but not the second. I couldn't.

I loved the idea of a compassionate Conservative (which I still think I am but I know Bush isn't)

I added my blog for choice because I trust women to make the right decision. I didn't give my blog as much thought as some of you may have because I didn't know this was up and coming.

I am pro-choice in the truest sense of the word. I believe it is often a bad choice and a choice I would not want to have to make, it's a choice I would not make but it's a choice that must be available or we risk losing the lives that have already begun.

I can't share a daily dose of outrage v. those who would take this away from our daughters but I will participate in an annual reminder to keep the death toll down and keep abortion legal.

Progressive Historians

As a woman who was 30 years old by the time Roe v Wade was passed, I witnessed more than one female who thought she was pregnant and was absolutely petrified! Apple Cider House rules was pretty close to some of the stories I heard or witnessed. Taking peragoric (which you could get at the Pharmacy) was not uncommon. Most females know as soon as that period did not come and they had had sex, that it was probably bad news. There was no thought that this was killing any baby, rather it was to 'bring on their period'.
After Roe v Wade, I watched young women who were in these same situations where a baby was out of the question at this time of their life,(youth, financial, single, ) have a safe, clean, professional place to go , instead of resorting to drugs, sharp objects, and having unbearable stress. I will fight to keep this woman's right till my dying day. I am fond of saying that if it were men who became pregnant, we would not even be having this conversation!

People sometimes ask me why someone like me is pro-choice -- and by someone like me, they mean someone who has been struggling with infertility for the last five years. Why, they wonder, would someone who has struggled so long (and so unsuccessfully) to get pregnant want to support abortion rights? Don't I understand, more than most, what an amazing and precious miracle conception is?

Oh, right -- the fact that I'm incapable of getting pregnant somehow means I'm supposed to think other women should be forced to carry unwanted pregnancies to term? Is that supposed to make me feel better or something?? That makes no sense to me, yet people seem surprised when I say hell, no! If I ever do get pregnant, conception will happen in a petri dish, and it'll cost me 12 grand. So yeah, that will be quite precious to me, and I'm thankful that science is advanced enough that I have that option. But that doesn't mean I begrudge anyone else for rejecting something I can't have. It's not my place to make that choice for them.

That's why it's called pro-choice. You get to choose, because only you know what's best for your life and your family and your health. No one else chooses for you.

Why am I pro-choice?

I'm pro-choice because the government has no business telling me that I should have a baby when I don't want to. I'm pro-choice because my culture has no business telling me that I should have a baby when I don't want to. I'm pro-choice because my community has no business telling me that I should have a baby when I don't want to. I'm pro-choice because people in my college classes have no business telling me that I should have a baby when I don't want to. I'm pro-choice because I don't want to have kids. I'm pro-choice because I don't want kids having kids . I'm pro-choice because there are people out there having kids who shouldn't even have them at all. I'm pro-choice because my friend made her own decision to become a mom.

Above all, I'm pro-choice because child-bearing (or not) is our OWN business!

It's not about child-bearing.
It's not about deciding whether or not to carry a pregnancy to term.
It's not about women's rights.

It is about the fact that it is legal to decapitate and rip the arms off of an unborn baby. You can't endure a few months discomfort and then give a child up for adoption?

I have heard it said that abortion is just a "procedure." So, I've had surgery a few times. I recently had to have laparoscopic removal of an endometrioma on my ovary. And you know, when I googled to find out what I was in for, what my disease looked like, and the pathology of the tissue removed, an interesting thing happened. The pages that talked about my procedure had detailed photographs of an endometrioma much like mine.

So why is it then, that pro-abortion sites don't let you watch a "procedure" being performed? Why don't they explain the process of limb removal and skull compression? Why don't they show you the "tissue" that your "procedure" is going to remove? Why shy away from the realities of what you are choosing to do, if you believe it is simply an elective procedure?

Seriously, we look with shame and disbelief that our country once allowed human beings to be owned as property.

Imagine how history will look on a culture that voluntarily disemboweled 40 million of its own children, for no other reason than convenience.

You all are really very scary.
