Over-the-counter Plan B: The First Month
It's been a month now that Plan B has been available without a prescription for women over 18 years old.
I'm just wondering if anyone has any stories about obtaining (or trying to obtain) EC since it became available over-the-counter. I'm especially curious because I've gotten several emails from women who were turned away by their pharmacist or straight up lied to about its over-the-counter status. One woman in Georgia who contacted me was even told by her pharmacist that even though the FDA approved OTC sale of Plan B, the state legislature now had to okay it. Not true.

I know it's really important to pressure chain pharmacies to carry Plan B- chains are all that are available to many women. But what about the (few remaining) indie pharmacies? Are there any sites that track which pharmacies gladly stock and distribute EC? I think it's important to check out locally owned businesses, when possible. Besides sharing EC horror stories, it would be nice to start some sort of list or database of businesses that are supportive of choice, and stock Plan B without hassling the consumers. Does anything like this exist, or do i have to do it my damn self :) ??
