Women senators call out Roberts
Seven women senators are demanding Roberts respond to
questions about his position on abortion and the right to privacy. Sens.
Barbara Boxer (CA), Barbara Mikulski (MD), Hillary Rodham Clinton (NY), Patty
Murray (WA), Mary Landrieu (LA), Debbie Stabenow (MI), and Maria Cantwell (WA)
have also launched a new website that allows the public to submit questions
that they want the Judiciary Committee to ask Roberts.
Sweet!

This blog fails to mention that this is not merely seven female senators but seven liberal democratic female senators. Of course they are going to be biased in favor of "choice"

What, you mean like the the bias involved in the fact that a staggering 77% of the "pro life" side is composed of those will never face pregnancy -- men?

I'm glad to meet a pro-choice blogger like you.

Astateofennui: A mere glance at the statistics, as well as the anecdotal evidence, shows that there are more women than men in the prolife movement. Furthermore a large percentage of those women have had unwanted pregnancies themselves earlier in their lives and have come to regret their choice of abortion. Some have been saved from the experience of abortion by helpful friends. They want to help other women in similarly difficult situations. Please do not perpetuate the myth that the prolife movement is the product of men who do not understand women's problems.

You toss around a lot of statistics, Joanne, without providing evidence. Please support your assertions. According to the Gallup Insitution, 52 percent of women identified as pro-choice, and 42 percent said they were pro-life. Among men, 44 percent were pro-choice and 49 percent were pro-life. However, here I was speaking of our legislators, not common citizens. I'm having a bit of difficulty finding anything that breaks down the percentage of male/female pro life/pro choice legislators. But I will continue looking for it.
Also, I responded to some of your comments a few subjects down, again, having to do with the statistical "evidence" you so often speak of.

Astateofennui: Even if the stats you cite are accurate (and I question that) it comes nowhere near the 3/4 majority (77%) you cited. It is, in fact, only a relatively slight majority. Indeed it should strike one as strange that a movement whose protagonists consider so vitally important for women should enjoy such low support(just over 50%) among women.

I think your blog is great. I was coming here to tell you that even before I read any of the negative comments above. But now it seems especially important to tell you I think your site is an excellent source for finding out what's happening quickly and a good place to stay in touch, especially if you don't have the time to dig through tons of articles. Please keep doing what you're doing. You rock.
